Navarathri Celebrations, 3rd to 9th October:

Navarathri was celebrated by all samitis in their own ways. Many samitis celebrated Navaratri by singing bhajans and performing special pujas to goddess Navdurga. Ponda samiti did a sacred ritual called as ‘Devi Kumkum- Archan’. While Panaji samiti did the Navaratri mahapuja at the Radha Krishna temple.

In the eve of Navaratri, there was a big festival celebration at Lord Balaji Temple, Cumcolim (Pond taluka), which witnessed huge masses of devotees. Sai samiti of Goa served Mahaprasad (food provided by the temple authorities) to the devotees on all the nine days. About 2000 thousand devotees were served food.
